What is DSL?

DSL is a high-speed, often called “broadband,” Internet connection. DSL Internet service is “always on” — there is no need for waiting for your modem to connect you to the Internet. DSL is much faster than a typical 56K modem connection.

NATCO Communications — through its subsidiaries, Northern Arkansas Telephone Company and NATCO Technologies — provides DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) service to customers throughout north central Arkansas, both to existing NATCO telephone and Internet customers and to customers who may have telephone service with another company.

Benefits of DSL

• No extra phone line necessary. DSL technology uses your existing phone line, allowing you to share phone and Internet on the same line — at the same time. You can also use other devices as usual on your telephone line. DSL won’t interfere.
• Fast Internet connection. You’ll be able to download or upload information, graphics, and video from the Internet at speeds up to 6 Mb/s.
• Dedicated line. You’ll be the only person using your connection and line. Unlike cable or modems, you don’t share your connection with other users, so your Internet speed will be more private, stable, and will have fewer delays.
• Available in limited areas in Marion, Baxter & Boone counties.

Because DSL requires a user be within a certain radius of the phone company’s switching equipment, DSL is available in specific areas. Please call us at

*To receive ADSL Internet access, your minimum computer system requirements are: PC with 486 or equivalent processor; 32MB of RAM; 30MB free hard drive space for systems without Internet software; a telephone line; Internet software, such as Netscape or Microsoft's Internet Explorer. ADSL service requires an ADSL modem, and a network card or a USB port.

DSL Rates

NATCO Technologies currently offers two types of DSL: ADSL or Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line and SDSL or Symmetric Digital Subscriber Line. ADSL has a significantly greater download speed than upload speed. SDSL has equal download and upload speeds.
